How to Increase Diversity in the Creative Industries
In-house creative mentoring social enterprise Pitch It! hosted an evening of debate this Spring 2015. Championing diversity in London's ever expanding creative sector, Pitch It! presented a panel of inspiring speakers with innovative insights - the motion: How to Increase Diversity in the Creative Industries.
Founder Isabel Farchy says: "Despite creative industry growth, a rising tide doesn’t seem to be floating all boats. Many London boroughs, Hackney being one example, with a flourishing creative economy have a NEET population of over 20%."
The most recent mentoring programme facilitated by Pitch It! featured mentors from the BFI, Time Out, photographer Marc Sethi, Netil House residents Julia Nagle art restorer and Kat Barry jewellery designer amongst other filmmakers, producers, digital media specialists and artists.
The discussion Thursday 21st May 2015 featured innovative insights into the problem of diversity in creative industries chaired by writer, actor, comedian and dj Kitt Proudfoot. The panel will include representatives from Ideas Foundation, The W Project and Hackney 100.
