A Local Guide to London Fields

Independent cafés, shops and venues just moments from Netil.

Netil House and Netil Corner sit just off Mare Street, on the edge of London Fields. It’s a neighbourhood that rewards wandering, with independent cafés, studios and shops at every turn.

The area has evolved over the past decade, but its independent spirit holds firm, and local businesses continue to set the pace.

Here are a few nearby places we return to often.

Where to drink & eat

Bambi

Part neighbourhood wine bar, part vinyl listening spot. Bambi serves up natural wines, seasonal plates and a rotating soundtrack spun by guest DJs.

Pophams

By day, a cult bakery; by night, a neighbourhood pasta spot. Seasonal British-Italian plates, handmade pasta, and a sharp low-intervention wine list. The space shifts effortlessly from laid-back mornings to candlelit evenings.

Pavilion

Nestled within Broadway Market, serving quality coffee and house chai alongside seasonal baked goods and fresh Sri Lankan-inspired lunches.

Climpson & Sons

A long-standing anchor of Broadway Market, Climpson’s helped shape East London’s modern coffee scene. They remain independent and focused on serious sourcing and roasting.

Wilton Way Deli

Just around the corner from Netil House, this low-key deli is ideal for a quiet flat white and a pastry, especially mid-morning.

Elliot’s

The second outpost of the Borough Market original, Elliot’s offers natural wine, wood-fired plates and some of the best sourdough pizza in the area.

Café Cecilia

Refined but unpretentious, this canalside space balances classic technique with Irish-leaning comfort food. Difficult to book but well worth the effort.

Little Georgia

An East London staple serving generous Georgian cooking. Casual, cosy and quietly brilliant, you’ll find yourself returning more often than planned.

Forno

Tucked behind Mare Street, Forno is a low-intervention bakery with Italian roots. Sourdough, sfogliatelle and coffee done right, all within a minimalist, community-led space.

Miga

A bright, family-run spot serving fresh, modern Korean plates, from soy-braised short ribs, spicy noodles and crispy beef jeon. Warm service, and generous portions.

Retail that respects craft

A designer archive store curating fashion, music, art, books and magazines. Started at Netil Market, now based at Netil House. In-store and online.

FILES LONDON

Based at Netil House, FILES offers rare, one-of-a-kind vintage designer garments. Their ground floor space, defined by concrete accents and statement furniture, sets the tone for a stripped-back, considered retail experience.

E5 Bakehouse

More than a bakery, it’s a working mill, fermentary and quietly radical food lab. You can take a course here, or simply pick up a loaf and some kefir butter.

Stranger Than Paradise Records

Behind Mare Street, this record shop is a haven for collectors. Expect carefully filed rarities.

Sage Nation

Blending Japanese and British heritage, Sage Nation creates non-seasonal, genderless garments with a focus on traditional materials and thoughtful construction.

Donlon Books

An independent bookshop and publisher with a sharp edit spanning rare titles and periodicals with a focus on photography, art, critical theory, sexuality, music, fashion, counterculture, and esoterica.

LF Markey

Bold, utilitarian womenswear with cult status. Designed with function and colour in mind, the flagship store is a destination in itself.

Formerly Known As Haeckels

A Margate-born brand creating science-led skincare and fragrance rooted in sustainability. The Broadway Market store offers refills, facials and a deep dive into the future of wellness.

Netil Market

Netil Market blends food, retail and atmosphere with a little more breathing room than Broadway Market. Highlights include Hobul, AlibiPaulie’s Bagels, &chill, Jupiter Burger, Sen Noods, Wingnut Wines, Paradox, Bread Meats Sauce, Papelón and its very own radio station, Netil Radio.

NT’s Loft

A cocktail bar and terrace, perfect for post-studio evenings and golden-hour meetups. Jazz nights on Wednesdays are a local favourite, with weekends made for dancing late.

Netil House

Home to over 100 creative studios, galleries, music spaces and independent businesses, including fashion designers, architects, artists and musicians. On the roof of Netil House, you’ll find venue and events space Netil360, plus bookable Rooftop Saunas at Netil Corner, both with skyline views.
