Rob makes furniture! Having grown up in a house full of Scandinavian furniture this influence is definitely visible, his parents preferring to make, rather than buy. Happy days were dissembling turntables, cd-players and walkmans to see how they worked. Studying sciences at school led to a degree in Mechanical Engineering which Rob says 'sort of sucked the fun out of it' and after graduating he decided that he wanted to pursue a more creative, playful direction. Rob went on to study 3-Dimensional Design at Ravensbourne College in London before ultimately setting up as an independent furniture designer maker. His design drive is the constantly shifting balance of providing fresh and unique pieces without ignoring tradition and subconscious memory, constantly fascinated with the structural solutions nature has already come up with and often permeating this into his work. His work has been exhibited at shows in London, Manchester and the Netherlands.
