Not Too Tame create work that breaks the boundaries of tame, polite theatre and aim to engage those who feel that theatre isn’t a place where they belong. With Tuck Shop, they’ve gathered their favorite writers to create a new writing night with a twist. Each short piece interrupts each other, plays off each other and tells stories together. A new writing night that’s not well behaved, expect the unexpected – this isn’t just another scratch night. Intrigued? We’ll see you at the bar!
**Director Jimmy Fairhurst: “**We need entertaining, we need to laugh and we need to see our own dilemmas explored by others in front of us. We aim to do many things, and have so many things to say, but we don’t ram it down people’s throats, instead, we just go ‘get a load of this’ through different forms of live entertainment that are familiar to us. Then we add a ‘Not Too Tame’ spin on things; a Rock’n’Roll flare to lyricism and some poetry to pub a brawl, and so far people can’t get enough of it!”
Not Too Tame are an ensemble company of artists who are firmly founded on a belief of “Theatre For All”, focusing specifically on creating work that reaches out to those who feel the theatre is not a place for them. The electric, uplifting, living and breathing work is a testament to the passion the company invests in their mission.
Not Too Tame’s previous work includes Early Doors (2014), a sell out smash hit at Edinburgh, where the raucous 11 strong ensemble took over the working Jinglin’ Geordie for a celebration of community spirit in a exhilarating theatre event that created a pub within a pub and invited everyone for a drink.
