Resident Spotlight with Emma Marshall from NGE Booking

What was your highlight of 2014?

EM: My personal highlight was probably Glastonbury festival. It’s one of the best festivals in the world. I was lucky enough to tour with one of our artists this summer and that was one of the festivals he played at, so I got to see it from a different perspective this year.

How do you see 2015, differing from the past year for NGE?

EM: We have taken on new artists this year and are continuing to grow as an agency, in terms of agents and artists. The aim in 2015 is to continue with the hard work put in, in 2014 and collectively we will grow and exceed the achievements of last year.

If you could add an any artists (dead or alive) to your agency for the next year, who would it be?

EM: Well, no one walks round like they’re bigger than Prince do they?

Do you see the current popular resurgence of modern dance music lasting at this high a level for many more years to come?

EM: Yes absolutely. Dance music as a genre has been around since the 70’s, but it’s continued to grow into what it is now, a global phenomenon. We have artists who play all over the world, even places that you may not think dance music touches. It can only continue to get bigger and better, with new artists regularly breaking into the scene and proving there is room for new sub genres and talent.

Who inspires you in your industry to kick on and keep working harder?

EM: It would have to be the people I work with. We are a great team and continue to work solidly and collectively to ensure that all our operations run smoothly. If you don’t do it as a team it will never work the way it’s supposed to. When you spur each other on, it means a happy working environment and if any issues do arise, they can be resolved extremely quickly.

What's the most rewarding experiences you have working for NGE?

EM: I have personally worked at NGE for a year and a half and in that time there are too many to mention. I’ve been able to experience incredible club nights, festivals in the UK and abroad, the London nightlife in a way I never thought possible, I’ve been allowed to explore events up and down the UK and have been abroad to incredible places such as Mexico with work. It’s really quite humbling the amount I have personally been able to do in a short space of time. And of course I’ve met some wonderful people along the way who I now consider good friends.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

EM: Something absolutely ridiculous considering I now work at a music agency; a professional female footballer.
