Stef's work graced many an editorial centre-fold this year; as pictured here in a recent @thefacemagazine feature.

DAY 02 | @jasonbrugesstudio - "Constant Gardeners"

Netil House residents @jasonbrugesstudio created this immense performative robotic installation as one of the core cultural programs of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The installation fused art, technology, sport and Japanese culture for this hugely inspiring final display in Ueno Park, Tokyo.

DAY 03 | @barflounder comes to Netil Market.

We were delighted to welcome new resident fish shack @barflounder into our midst this Summer.

Born from legendary East London fishmongers @finandflounder, Bar Flounder offer the highest quality seafood in the form of prawn burgers, lobster rolls, fritto misto and much much more 🦐 .

Day 04 | @mudgang_pottery Makers Market ✨

Old Paradise Yard residents Mudgang are a community pottery studio set up by Rachael Nilsson and Imogen Bellotti in 2019.

Back in August, @mudgang_pottery hosted their first makers market and open studio with @oasisfarmwaterloo. Hosting local independent makers as well as running free activities for the community to come and get involved in.

DAY 05 | @jamesedgarstudio - Gdynia Bridge Mural 🌊

Earlier this year, @jamesedgarstudio were approached by volunteers from the construction industry to refresh Plymouth's outdated Gydnia bridge art.

James Edgar Studio travelled to Gdynia, Plymouth's twinned Polish city, and spent a week in the city visiting museums, meeting local designers and immersing in the city’s culture. The redesigned bridge is a symbol of the existing and future ties between Gdynia and Plymouth.

DAY 06 | @studio.thomas started a brand new chapter with the launch of their new @guesteditions shopfront.

Previously a publishing side project of Studio Thomas, @guesteditions is now taking on a new lease of life as a bookshop, event space and studio 📚.

DAY 07 | @artonapostcard Winter Auction celebrates 20 years of the Hepatitis C Trust.

Art on a Postcard is a unique platform that offers the opportunity to purchase beautiful limited edition artworks by renowned names that are auctioned for charity each year.

This year, Art on a Postcard hosted their largest winter auction to date, celebrating 20 years of the @hepatitisctrust and showcasing a wealth of artistic talents, from regular contributors to newer artists on the scene.

DAY 08 | East London's go-to for fresh pasta @stuffed.ravioli made our day when they decided to relaunch their intimate supper clubs this year 💫

Serving up family-style menus on their cosy new Netil Market roof terrace, @stuffed.ravioli have been using the supper clubs to give their new chefs a chance to get creative with their antipasti.

DAY 09 | @scrtco launch their brand new Shoreditch shopfront.

Stay Creative Co. are a close-knit team who joined
the Hackney Downs Studios community earlier this year. The brand draws influences from subcultures both past & present, whilst producing cut & sew collections focused on vintage-inspired workwear, with function and everyday use in mind.

Back in September they launched their flagship store on Redchurch St. The turnout paid testament to @scrtco's clout in the field, and if you didn't know them before, you surely did after that party.

DAY 10 | @ambar.ldn

This year, one of the special collabs launched by @ambar.ldn was with wood engraving artist @indiarosebird.

The Mystic Mycelium collection was intended to act as a translation of India's woodblock print artwork into a beautiful Merino knitted throw. An ode to the whimsical world of mushrooms.

DAY 11 | @edburkes - "Dandelion"

'Dandelion is an exhibition of work created by Ed (the eighth winner of the Jonathan Vickers Fine Art Award) in response to the people, culture, heritage and landscape of Derbyshire. The biennial award brings a rising artist to Derby to produce a lasting legacy of contemporary work of national importance.’

"This was probably the highlight of my year, the body of work was the culmination of a 9 month residency in the city of Derby which ended with a solo show at Derby Museums, which then moved to the @mallgalleries in July.

DAY 12 | @realhackneydave's Love Bomb ❤️ 💣

"This whole ridiculous piece started with a single photo a mate of mine sent me from a flea market. It was a pic of the tail fin of a 1000lb bomb, that would have at some stage been attached to the bottom of a Harrier Jump Jet in the 1980s.

I had an idea of what I wanted to do with it, and eventually found the other half of the bomb, which was full of cement and actually weighed a ton.

It was so heavy five big lads couldn't even lift it into my studio, and after much huffing and puffing and effing and jeffing, it was redesigned, welded, sprayed and polished and was forklifted into Hackney Downs Studios, and eventually ended up in the @saatchi_gallery!"

DAY 13 | @brotherldn X @julianafutter

Back in June, Netil Market residents @brother_ldn collaborated with illustrator @julianafutter for a special limited tee.

DAY 14 | @Max Radford "Uncommon Found"

As featured in @dezeen, "Uncommon Found" was @theradfordgallery's debut exhibition launched back in June of this year.

"The key part of this exhibition for me had always been for people to see work in real life that otherwise they would only see on their Instagram feed" - @m_r.a.a.d for Dezeen.

DAY 15 | @richcraft_furniture

@richcraft_furniture is a British furniture design studio and manufacturer specialising in creating bespoke furniture using tubular steel and British hardwoods.

Lula Laora worked with @ashnikko to create stage pieces for her 2021 DemiDevil tour.

DAY 17 | @esce.tex 'Mendathon'

Hackney Downs Studios resident Esce-tex offer tools and services to increase accessibility, creativity and sustainable development in fashion with conscious solutions.

DAY 18 |'Roam' by @TwoTimesElliott

'Roam with wild abandon, to a place where breathing rises and falls.'

When the co-founders of Roam briefed Netil House residents @twotimeselliott on their mission, they saw it as an answer to society’s call. A call to be more comfortable in ones skin and with ones preferences. A call to leave a performance-based culture behind. And a call for curiosity that could lead to real intimacy and expression.

DAY 19 | @Idioma turns 10 and moves to Netil Market

One of the biggest milestones was Idioma celebrating their 10 year anniversary with a debut exhibition at @hackneydownsstudios. Later that week, they joined the Netil Market fold with a brand new shopfront that has really enriched the market experience.

DAY 20 | @TomFryStudio x Cory Van Lew

It was a mammoth year for new resident and self-taught visual artist @tomfrystudio. Tom only started pursuing art as a career 4-5 years ago; his surge in popularity paying testament to his talents.

As well as painting, Tom also dived head-first into the world of NFTs, creating and selling unique and digitised versions of his physical work.

Back in October, Tom opened up the doors of his studio to artist @coryvanlew. Another heavy-hitter in the NFT world, Cory's artistic response to the Black Lives Matter movement helped catapult him to viral fame in 2020.

DAY 21 | @wolfandbadgerstudios Notion Feature

For Eat Work Art's 20th day of resident highlights, we're re-visiting @wolfandbadgerstudios editorial feature in @notion.

DAY 22 | @Mox_london for Sports Direct

Advertising agency @mox_london refer to themselves as the "capybara of creative agencies, attracting all kinds."

This year, they teamed up with Sports Direct for their Christmas campaign in a bid to encourage the country to turn slobbing season into sporting season.

The campaign featured some huge guest appearances from the likes of Grealish, Big Narstie and Raducanu. What a way to wrap an incredible year of content from @mox_london 🙌

DAY 23 | @TheWellGarden

"The last year (or two) has given us time to re-imagine our mission as a wellness studio and why it is so important to our community.

We have been able to enhance our offering, now holding space for an abundance of wellness services to help you adopt a more holistic & healthy lifestyle. We have aimed to prioritise and encourage your self care with the help and expertise of our practitioners."
