Lauren Collier is an artist working across printmaking, photography, sculpture and moving image. Interested in how we relate to constructed images of landscape when compared to the physicality of place, new and traditional techniques are combined with hand drawn images, woodcut and photography. Playing with scale and surface, the work aims to question ideas of fabrication and authenticity.
Growing up in the South West, coastal landscape has been a consistent feature in her work. Fragmenting and deconstructing photographs, images are torn and crumpled into minute pieces before rephotographing with a macro lens, constructing new, seemingly miniature worlds.
Lauren studied BA(Hons) Fine Art Printmaking at the University of Brighton and MA Visual Arts Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts, London.
